EXCELLENT Based on 36 reviews Posted on Joanne HVerified Christimas in Uganda and Tanzania We were a family of 6 that went on an 8 day Gorilla and Safari Trek with Engabi Tours. We had an amazing time and the team with Engabi Tours was beyond professional, they were responsive with all of our questions and so helpful when one of our group got Covid, they drove her to the hospital, to many pharmacies to get the medication she needed, just so patient, thoughtful and kind. A big thank you to the Engabi Team in Uganda and Tanzania, our vacation was perfect. They will do everything they can to mae the best experience for you. I would use them again without hestitation. Thank you Engabi for the best trip ever!!!Posted on demilio2303Verified Engabi Tours is top notch! I can't say enough great things about this tour company. Normally when my husband and I travel, we rent our own car and drive everywhere. This is the first time we hired a tour company. It was great to be able to sit back and enjoy Rwanda and Uganda's scenery. From the moment we landed in Kigali to when we departed Entebbe, our driver, Roland was absolutely fantastic. We also felt Christopher was easy to work with during the planning of our 2 week trip. He adjusted our itinerary and worked with us so that we were able to see and do all the excursions we hoped to include. From gorilla trekking to safari, we had one of the most memorable trips we could ask for.Posted on DurhamNHVerified Superb private 11 day safari with Engabi Tours Christopher at Engabi Tours planned a perfect private itinerary for us. Allan was our guide and he was with the entire 11 days - he made the experience extra special. We visited Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Our itinerary had these three stops for three nights each which allowed us 2 full days of trekking/game drives rather than driving distances every day or every other day. We did two days of trekking with the chimps in Kibale, then game drives and boat ride in Queen Elizabeth followed by two days trekking with mountain gorillas in Bwindi. Highlights were trekking with the chimps and gorillas. Seeing lions and leopards in was also a highlight as we did not see cats on a previous safari in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Our lodging were all clean, hospitable and memorable. Food was good and the staff were superb. Christopher worked with our budget and Uganda is certainly less expensive than safaris in Kenya or Tanzania. It was also not crowded at all - we would go again in the shoulder season as weather was fine (only two rain showers which did not alter our plans).Uganda is so scenic and her people are so kind and friendly. Their smiles are contagious! There are so many national parks so we hope to visit some others in future. Engabi also works in Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania so you can combine a number of countries in one itinerary.Highly recommend Engabi Tours for your East Africa safari.Posted on Cindy CVerified Trip of a lifetime- Engabi Tours knocked it out of the park! I started planning for this trip and talking with Chris about 8 months before we arrived. After speaking with Chris and looking at the itinerary he had planned compared with other tour companies, I decided to go ahead and book the trip. We planned to visit Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya. We arrived in Rwanda at Kigali Airport to the smiling face of the most amazing and wonderful guide by the name of Allan. Allan made our next few days so much fun. We stayed in Hotel De Mille Collines for our first night in the city. Our next day Allan drove us to Uganda to Four Gorillas Lodge (5 stars) where we would be heading out the next day for our Gorilla Trek. Wow! So much fun. The Gorillas were amazing and we got to hang out for an hour with a group of about 10 gorillas. We opted for the medium hike (about a 4 hour steep down and then back up). Our next day was driving out for a nights stay in Lake Bunyonyi (lots of islands). Allan took us to lunch in one of the small towns. He also took us to one of the markets and we loved being able to buy some toys for the kids in the town and see their reaction to their new toys. We flew to Kilimanjaro to Tanzania and was met with our next guide, Miriki. The next few days we made our way through Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Serengeti (all the way from the South to the North). Miriki was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a chance to see every animal we could. We also were able to go into a Masai Village and meet the people and they showed us their dances and their homes (also inside) , how the started fire, and the school. Our third guide was Simon and we met him at the border between Tanzania and Kenya. We also had the pleasure of having Chris (who originally booked everything for us) come along and be our second guide. Kenya was beautiful and the Masai Mari had so many animals for the small area that we drove through. We literally were taken care of from the minute we stepped off the plane to the drop off at the airport where Chris literally walked us into the airport to say goodbye. I was a little nervous about paying so much money for a trip (I’m not a rich person and this was a lot for me, but I had saved). This trip was worth every penny. There had been some changes in Lodges by Chris and I was at home thinking to myself that maybe we wouldn’t be staying in nice places. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Every place Chris had booked was really wonderful. These Lodges are all really amazing. The tented lodges were definitely “glamping” - not roughing it. The food was all really good and they always had plenty of bottled water and drinks. It was a trip of a lifetime !!! Thanks Engabi tours and my guides. You all are wonderful!Posted on Emma JVerified Unforgettable experience with Engabi Tours! Myself and my partner our approaching the end of our trip organised by Engabi Tours travelling to Uganda and Tanzania and wow what a trip it’s been!!We started our trip doing gorilla and chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. Both experiences were organised very well and our tour guide, Alan (who was with us during our time in Uganda) was very knowledgable and made sure we arrived on time to each experience and made the most of them! We then travelled to Tanzania for a safari in two of the main national parks in Tanzania (Tarangire and Serengeti). Our tour guide, Frank was amazing!! Frank was highly knowledgeable and was able to answer my many many questions. We managed to see the Big Five all thanks to Frank’s expertise. It is clear that Frank loves his job as a tour guide which shined through in his enthusiasm through the safari! If you are considering a safari in Tanzania, I would highly recommend Frank as a tour guide, you won’t regret it!Posted on Fahwad KVerified Gorillas, Chimps, Safari and Zanzibar Trip - Top Quality Tour We booked our tour with Engabi after looking at many other UK / local tour operators and Christopher at Engabi was the most responsive and clear in his communication from the outset despite us changing the itinerary many times and booking at short notice! The trip from start to finish was well organised and all the accommodation was great with very good service all round. Allan (our tour guide in Rwanda and Uganda) did a great job and was very informative over the few days we were with him on the gorilla and chimp tracking experience. Frank (our tour guide in Tanzania) was also fantastic and his knowledge of wildlife is very impressive. As soon as we arrived, he was able to identify various bird species, plants and animals and was able to give us good information and answer the many questions we had whilst on Safari. Despite our tight itinerary which involved a lot of driving, Frank kept the energy up and was always willing to go the extra mile on game drives even when we were tired! We saw the big 5, a Cheetah kill and also the wilderbeast migration (which were the highlights for us). If you travel to Tanzania on safari, we would highly recommend choosing Frank as your tour guide - you will not be disappointed!Posted on RobVerified Fantastic Experience Dealing with Christopher from the start has been so easy. Any questions we had he got back to us straight away! He explained everything accurately so we weren’t left in the dark! Our experience in Uganda through to Tanzania. Was well organised and included everything we wanted. The guides were good, pickups were on time! Need to make specially mention of our guide “Evans” who took us through the Safari part of our tour. He was so pleasurable, full of information. He worked very hard to make our experience unforgettable. Every morning we would get into a pristine clean car that we spent the night before cleaning. He has a lot of experience as a guide and you have the best time if you’re lucky enough to get him. Overall a great experience!Posted on flamingofootVerified Not as budget friendly as we hoped My husband and I took a tour with Engabi for our honeymoon. Overall tour itself was great, we did however miss our international flight to the fault of poor planning from our guide to get us to the airport in time. We had been watching the clock since 9am and continually asked our driver if we would make it in time for our 5pm flight. He continually reassured us we would be ok. By the time we got to the airport, they wouldn’t allow us in the terminal because the flight already began boarding. So we lost our trip insurance at that point. If the driver would have been honest when he realized we wouldn’t make it, we could have adjusted our flights. The company said best they can offer is $60 to stay in a hotel for the night. We had to pay an additional $2400 out of pocket to get ourselves home. The company took no credit for us missing our flight even though we were fully completely in their hands to ensure we made it to the airport in time and they failed. We chose this company because it fit our budget better but at the end of the day, we could’ve picked a more upscale journey with the extra money we had to pay to buy new plane tickets.Details on the trip: up until the last day it truly was a trip of a life time. We opted for the Tanzania safari through the Serengeti and then Gorilla and chimp trekking in Uganda. Tanzania was incredible in all ways. We felt safe the whole time, stayed in lovely locations and saw all the animals we could have hoped for thanks to our guides expert knowledge. Uganda was a little tougher, we expected long hours in the car but it was still quite exhausting so be prepared. Chimp trekking was neat and gorilla trekking is unmatched to anything we’ve ever experienced, incredible. Our lodging reservation was switched upon our arrival to Uganda from a lodge that was very close to chimp trekking (10min drive) to a safari tent lodge that was over an hour from the chimp location. This meant we spent a lot more time in the car for 3 days which was incredibly challenging and for something my husband and I felt was not as comfortable an experience. We asked to be switched back to the lodge that had been in the original itinerary and were told no. The lodges outside of that incident were great.Posted on Gina AVerified Gorilla Habituation and more My friends and I traveled to Uganda on a medical mission. We decided to spend a few more days at the end of our trip to hike with the Mountain Gorillas and experience more of Uganda. Christopher handled all the details of our trip like a pro from helping to build the itinerary to selecting the perfect lodge experiences. Christopher is very responsive and a pleasure to do business. We felt completely safe on the trip and had the most amazing time. Hiking with the gorillas was epic and no words can truly explain the incredible experience. If you get a chance to go to Uganda to see the gorillas, do the four hour habituation program instead of the one hour trek. You won’t regret it. Choose Engabi Tours to help create a once in a lifetime experience.Posted on David SVerified Mzungu in the mist. A wonderful experience!Chris was professional, helpful and flexible in helping me arrange the trek.Emmanuel made the whole process stress free. Many thanks!
